Rehab Services & Community Based Inclusive Development

Rehab Services

The Rehabilitation Services is set up through a multidisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapist and nurse in a clinic setting. The team is serving over 750 patients monthly more than 50% of them are stroke victims, following by 20% road accidents and 10% children with cerebral palsy. Patients seen at FONHARE include children and adolescents born with cerebral palsy or developmental disabilities, stroke victims, orthopedic injuries and deformities, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, Peripheral facial paralysis, Paralysis of Erb and Klumpke, Trisomy 21 and kat-Cry syndrome, autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, people with pain and dysfunction, Rheumatoid arthritis, and neurological conditions.  Now the clinic´ space and the staff have become too small to meet the increase demands because more than 85% percent of the population FONHARE serves, are living under the poverty line and they receive care free of charges.

7,000+ Patients Visit Annually

Community-Based Inclusive Development

Through this approach, FONHARE also arranges home visits to treat patients who are not able to leave their home in order to come to the clinic, provides transportation to the clinic if needed, and provides home assessments for accessibility concerns, adapts homes to increase patients´ autonomy and participation in family´s decision making. In addition, one of the most important things, FONHARE trains family´s members to be involved in the patient’s recovery.

Without FONHARE’s help, thousands would not receive any rehabilitative care or assistance with their activities of daily living. Many would simply survive with a disability, instead of engage in any meaningful existence.
